Queen of Fashion Souls

Image
In the Dark Souls community there's a bit of a running joke that when you're able to have nice armor and look cool or good it's called your fashion soul. I felt that my fashion soul was definitely the best in Dark Souls 2! I had a bit of help getting my fancy armor and my power stance-d Blacksteel Katanas but it was fun nonetheless!     Remember, don't go hollow!     - Autumn

The Interconnected World of Dark Souls 1

When you first start playing Dark Souls (1) one of the first areas that you're able to go to is Firelink Shrine. ( pictured right ) this area is a lot of peoples favorite 'hub' areas in the game. One of the reasons that Firelink Shrine is such an influential area is in Dark Souls 1 they intentionally limited the soundtrack, there isn't music playing in the background at all times so when it does it's a big deal. When you first enter Firelink Shrine you may not even notice the music but then you find shortcut after shortcut leading back to Firelink Shrine. The music plays once again and you're finally able to feel safe again because nothing can hurt you here. I suggest listening to the Firelink shrine music while reading the rest of this which can be heard in the video below:      As for the rest of Dark Souls (1) the game just flows together. Most games that I've played have been on a straightforward path. You do what you need to do in that area and mov

Is a Dexterity Build EASY MODE?

In Dark Souls, there are plenty of stats you can level up. What do  you level as a first time player? What makes the game easier? Sometimes what's easier for one boss really won't do well for another so there's a lot of nuance in making a decision on what kind of build that you want to do in any given souls game.      For me, I'm terrible at making decisions. When I played Elden Ring for the first time I was streaming it and because of that I was able to have people just tell me what to do! But others will not be as lucky as me and will play this game alone and not even know where to start. In Elden Ring on my first playthrough I ended up doing a dexterity build, which allows you to do a medium(good) amount of damage while not giving up movement speed. I feel like this is a safe  build for people who are new to the game.      If you're looking to do a dexterity build for Elden Ring consider using the Uchigatana which can be found pretty early on in the game (Li

About The Hollow

Hi, I'm Autumn and this is The Hollow. I'm a 20 year old artist, Twitch streamer, and face painter and I made this blog to talk about my time as a first time souls player.       As a person who has played a lot of video games in my life I really haven't had another experience like the Dark Souls games. They are a test of wit, patience, and perseverance. The game series started with Demon's Souls, released in 2008 by FromSoftware. This is one of the only 'souls-like' games I haven't played so I don't have a lot to say about it. In 2012 Dark Souls was released and it is also the name origin of this blog. In Dark Souls lore, if you give up in the game you go hollow. It's essentially the games way of saying you're mindless (and bad). I felt that this was a good name for the blog because I'm not good at these games in any shape way or form, people have beaten Dark Souls (1) using a Dance Dance Revolution pad and I simply do not  have the patience
